Haoyue's experience of Campus tours

The Campus Tour was one of the activities I enjoyed most, and I would like to share more details about my experience of it.

I am a postgraduate student at Moray House School of Education and Sport who will be graduating this summer.

How lucky I was to successfully occupy the role as a Student Ambassador for the past academic year. By participating in the great variety of activities both online and on campus, I have met many interested undergraduate and postgraduate fellow ambassadors from different countries who are really talkative and easy going. The Campus Tour was one of the activities I enjoyed most, and I would like to share more details about my experience of it.

I can still remember how nervous I was for the first Campus Tour delivered on my own. As a non-native speaker, talking in front of a group of strangers and introducing different buildings around the central campus was not very easy for me. I was heavily dependent on the scripts at the beginning.

When I shared my experience of the first tour, there was a fellow ambassador - she encouraged me to talk about whatever I knew about the area and anything I would like to mention. Indeed, I become very confident delivering the campus tour now without taking the script with me anymore. I feel that my communication and interpersonal skills have improved a lot by leading the tours.

Another good thing about choosing Student Ambassador as a part-time job is that there is no fixed schedule or contracted hours every week, rather it gives me the flexibility to choose the time slots that I will be available for to fit around my study and other commitments. I feel that such working convention can enable me to balance the work and study very well.
