How we use your information when involved with a widening participation project. Event registration We will use your personal data to allow us to process your registration, because by registering for the project you give us your consent to do so. We will use the contact details you provide to communicate with you about the project; ensuring that you have the information you need to participate allows us to fulfil our contract as the project provider. Monitoring engagement and outcomes We will also use your contact details to ask you for feedback about the project because it is in our legitimate interest to measure satisfaction as part of our commitment to continuous improvement. We may also use your information to research your educational outcomes and destinations during and after school or college. We do this because it is of legitimate interest to the University to measure the effectiveness of our widening participation activities. To do so we will keep the information you provide when registering for a widening participation project for up to seven years. This is with the exception of special category data (e.g. health information such as dietary or accessibility requirements). If you would prefer not to be included in our monitoring of engagement and outcome work then please email us at: wpteam@ed.ac.uk Photography and recordings Project activities may be photographed or recorded because it is our legitimate interest to do so, and images may be kept for up to ten years. If you do not wish to be included, please email the event organiser. Online events may be recorded and session recordings may be published online. Any information that you provide during a session is optional and in doing so you give us consent to process this information. Recordings will be stored by the University of Edinburgh for one year and published on our website during that time. Communication We will also contact you about future events you might be interested in if you have given your consent to this. You can opt out of this at any time.
