Receiving a Decision Admissions decisions are processed in various ways across the University depending on the degree programme. Many degree programmes operate a number of selection deadlines throughout the year. Please check the Degree finder for confirmation of application and decision deadlines for each individual degree programme. Your clients should be advised of these decision dates to manage expectations. We will, in exceptional circumstances, make offers to the most talented and qualified applicants prior to the stated decision dates. To help speed up decision times and ensure that you do not experience unnecessary delays, we would ask you to observe the following points. Supporting Documents UCAS Applications: These will not show on your agent portal. Please ensure that predicted grades are provided as part of the application form, we cannot process decisions if these are omitted and the Admissions Team will not routinely chase if these are missing due to the large volumes of applications we receive. If you plan to submit supporting documents on behalf of an applicant, please send these to futurestudents@ed.ac.uk. If your student is required to submit a portfolio, the Admissions Team will email a link to upload. Postgraduate Applications: For applications submitted directly through the University of Edinburgh’s online admission's system, you can access through your agent portal and upload documents on the applicant’s behalf. If you do not have access to your online agent portal, please send an email to Representatives@ed.ac.uk and an account will be created for you within 48 hours. You are able to read messages, action offers and check the status of an application through the agent portal. Providing translated grading scales Our admissions team often write to applicants requesting a copy of their grading scale that has been translated into English, resulting in longer waiting times. Providing official grading system Where a numerical grade is required for admission, the transcripts should always contain a calculated GPA out of 100. You may request that the applicant obtain a document that displays this information from their University. Frequently Asked Questions The applicant has met the minimum requirements. Does this mean that they are guaranteed to receive an offer? No. Each application is assessed individually on its own merits. I am disappointed that an application has been rejected. What should I do? We understand that you will want to achieve as high an acceptance rate as possible. In cases where you have strong evidence that due process was not followed, you should contact Representatives@ed.ac.uk to receive advice on how to dispute a decision. For all rejection cases, we would advise to look at the information provided by the admissions team.
